Rugby players are able to play in NFL (american "football"), and NFL players are able to play in Rugby games?

On a purely skills level, yes, they could excel mutually. But I'm compelled at the more legal end of it, like what sort of contracts would be involved or if there are any outright restrictions between the US and UK. I'm sure it would be much easier within the commonwealth (UK/Canada, UK/Aus, etc.).
